These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of hackweb.dev and its API (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
hackweb.dev is a free, community-driven platform for learning web development. It offers interactive tutorials, quizzes, roadmaps, and tools for contributing corrections and new lessons. Features may change, and we may add or remove functionality at any time.
2. Accounts
You sign in with a GitHub account. You are responsible for your account and for all activity that occurs through it. You must be old enough to use GitHub and to consent to these Terms in your country. Do not impersonate others or use an account you are not authorized to use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any applicable law or infringe the rights of others;
- submit content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, deceptive, or malicious;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, including through scraping, spam, or denial-of-service activity;
- circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical protections.
4. Your contributions
You keep ownership of the content you submit (lessons, corrections, suggestions, profile information, and similar). By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, distribute, translate, and adapt that content as part of operating and promoting the Service. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that it does not violate anyone else's rights.
Contributions are collaborative and may be edited, merged, moved, translated, or removed by maintainers or other users. Do not submit content you are unwilling to have modified or published under these Terms.
5. Site content and intellectual property
The Service's name, design, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the license in Section 4, these Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding.
6. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including GitHub for sign-in and Cloudflare for hosting. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies. If paid plans launch, payments will be handled by a third-party merchant of record, and additional terms will apply.
7. Educational content — no warranty
The Service is provided for educational purposes and is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Content may contain errors or become outdated. Always verify code and guidance before relying on it.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD 50.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or if we need to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections you may have where you live.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
